Speech impediment isn’t slowing Jason Freeman down. He wants to inspire others through his story.
Due to a birth injury, I have a mild speech impediment. My voice embarrassed me. It embarrassed me to the point that I avoided public speaking at all costs.
Like me, most people have areas of struggle in their own lives but they often don’t admit these difficulties to others, or even to themselves. Participating in The Sioux Falls Laughter Club led by Dan and Jill Johnson and becoming a Laughter Yoga Leader has transformed my life.
The Sioux Falls Laughter Club provided a safe and nurturing environment in which to become comfortable expressing myself. They gave me a great gift. They helped me discover the confidence I needed within myself to become a public speaker, and the confidence to motivate and inspire others.
I now speak to audiences about being ashamed of my voice. Then, I talk about the steps I took to grow beyond this embarrassment. By sharing my story, I hope others will find the motivation they need to surmount difficulties, turning their energy towards growth and transformation. I hope to pass on the gift that was given to me.
Jason delivers dynamic presentations using the story of his own difficulties to help participants connect to challenges in their lives. From this point of connection, he speaks to groups on a wide variety of subjects including stress management; cultivating routines that lead to wellness; responding to personal and workplace challenges; and embracing change with positive attitudes, emotions and actions. Pre-engagement consultation allows each presentation to be customized to the specific needs of each audience.

The Wisdom of a Rubber Band - An Experiential Leadership and Stress Management Workshop
Exceptional leadership comes easier when leaders have the tools to consistently exercise flexibility not only in their actions, but also in their thoughts, emotions, and level of energy. With this flexibility, leaders are free to act in purposeful ways to achieve the results they desire.
The core of this workshop is experiential and joyful learning within a framework of explanation and time for group reflection. Much laughter and lightness is present during the day, while giving participants experience concepts that can be life changing.
In crafting these workshops, I draw upon knowledge and examples from such diverse fields as business management, life coaching, relaxation and wellness, meditation, conventional yoga and laughter yoga.
This presentation can be one hour or two hours, a half a day or a full day depending the needs of the organization.

How I Found My Voice - An Inspirational Presentation on Transforming Disability Into Ability
Jason has spent his life coping with a speech impediment and some fine motor coordination impairments. Over the years, he has learned that most people are like him in that they go through periods of frustration with some aspect of who they are.
At times in his life, Jason viewed his speech and coordination issues as serious obstacles, but he now sees them as opportunities to connect with others and to continually grow. Jason will talk about how his perspective of his disability changed and how he has learned to focus on opportunities instead of obstacles.
“As a Professional Speaker myself, I have spent the last seven years working on my skills and knowledge to be able to present successfully to audiences around the world. Your presentation left me speechless and in tears. Not many can speak from the heart in the way you did. I’m jealous…go for it!”
- Merv Neal, CEO Maurant Business Associates, Keynotes, Conference MC, Facilitation
